Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

This notice explains how Shelfcove handles personal information when you visit the store, contact us, create an account, or buy books. Shelfcove operates its store using WordPress and WooCommerce on Hostinger hosting.

Information collected and its sources

  • Information you provide: name, email, phone number if supplied, billing and delivery addresses, account details, order information, and messages or photographs you send when requesting help.
  • Order and payment records: books purchased, amounts, order status, payment or refund references, and limited payment-method details supplied by the payment provider.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, request and security logs, cookie or session identifiers, and interactions needed to run the cart and checkout.
  • Information from service providers: payment authorization and fraud-prevention results, and shipping or delivery updates associated with an order.

Please do not send passwords, complete card numbers, or card security codes through email or the contact form.

Why the information is used

We use information to display and operate the store, maintain accounts and shopping carts, accept and fulfil purchases, communicate about orders, handle returns and support requests, protect against fraud and unauthorized activity, and meet accounting and legal obligations. An order or support message is not, by itself, a request to receive promotional emails.

Who receives information

  • Hostinger: hosting and related infrastructure process website and database information needed to provide the store. See Hostinger’s Privacy Policy.
  • WooPayments / Automattic and Stripe: payment, transaction, identity, device, and fraud-prevention information is processed to provide and secure payments. See the Automattic Privacy Policy and Stripe Privacy Policy.
  • Payment options you select: a wallet or instalment provider, such as Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, WooPay, Affirm, Cash App Afterpay, or Klarna, may receive the information needed for your chosen payment option. Their own notices and terms apply. Not all options are available for every order or device.
  • Delivery and support providers: fulfilment partners, carriers, and email providers receive the contact and order information needed to dispatch books, send service messages, or resolve a query.
  • Legal and professional recipients: information may be disclosed when required by law or as necessary for a legitimate legal claim, fraud investigation, or professional accounting or legal advice.

Access is limited to the information needed for the relevant purpose. Some payment and other providers also process information for their own legal, fraud-prevention, and service purposes described in their privacy notices.

Payment-card information

Card details entered into WooPayments’ hosted payment fields are handled by the payment provider, not stored as complete card numbers or card security codes in our WordPress database. If you choose to save a payment method, the provider stores the payment details and the store may retain a token or reference and limited identifying details, such as the card brand and last digits. Saving a card does not mean the store stores the full card number.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies and similar technologies support cart sessions, account sign-in, payment security, and site operation. WooCommerce cart cookies identify cart changes, and its session cookie links a browser to cart information stored by the shop. The wishlist uses browser local storage to remember saved books on that browser; clearing the site’s browser data can clear the wishlist.

Payment services can use their own cookies, device signals, or similar technologies to load payment options and detect fraud. Browser controls let you block or clear cookies and site storage, although doing so may disrupt sign-in, the cart, saved preferences, or checkout.

Advertising, marketing, and privacy signals

We do not sell customer personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not currently use separate advertising pixels, third-party audience analytics, or an external mailing-list service for this store. This does not prevent the payment, hosting, security, and delivery processing explained above.

The store’s essential functions are not switched off by a browser’s Do Not Track signal. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, there is no such activity for a Global Privacy Control signal to opt out of at this time. You can still exercise the applicable privacy rights described below.

If we introduce optional marketing subscriptions, promotional messages will have a way to unsubscribe, and the relevant collection and service-provider information will be provided. We will update this notice and provide any required choices before introducing materially different data uses.

Retention

Retention depends on the information involved, your account and order activity, applicable recordkeeping requirements, fraud prevention, and unresolved claims. The store does not currently have an automatic deletion schedule configured for inactive accounts or order records. You can contact us about deletion; some records may need to remain for legal, accounting, security, or dispute-resolution purposes, and copies in backups may remain until those backups are replaced.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can check and update available account details through My account, or contact us to request access, correction, a copy, or deletion of your information. Depending on the law that applies, you may also have rights relating to sale or sharing, targeted advertising, sensitive information, or an appeal of a request decision. We will respond in accordance with applicable requirements and will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

Send requests to Support@shelfcove.com. Tell us what you are requesting and the email address connected to the relevant account or order. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity or an authorized representative’s authority. Do not send sensitive identity documents unless we explain why they are necessary and provide an appropriate way to supply them.

Children, security, and processing locations

The store is intended for purchases by adults or with a responsible adult’s involvement; it is not designed to collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so that we can review it and take appropriate action.

No website, payment system, or email channel can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your account password and contact us if you suspect misuse. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate; their applicable notices explain their processing and safeguards.

Updates and contact

We will show a revision date when this notice is updated and provide additional notice where applicable law requires it. A policy update does not retrospectively authorize an incompatible new use of information.
