Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

The book that made Knockemout, Virginia a place romance readers talk about like it exists. Things We Never Got Over is grumpy-sunshine done at full length — over five hundred pages of it — and the length is the appeal rather than a flaw.

The setup

Naomi arrives in Knockemout to rescue her twin sister, and is instead robbed, abandoned, and left responsible for an eleven-year-old niece she did not know existed. Knox Morgan runs the local barbershop and bar, wants nothing to do with anyone’s problems, and is exactly the person she has to depend on.

What to expect

• Small-town contemporary romance with a genuinely funny ensemble cast
• Grumpy-sunshine dynamic, slow burn, dual point of view
• A suspense subplot running alongside the romance
• Book one of the Knockemout series — it stands alone, but nobody stops here
